TOUR DESCRIPTION
The goal of the Free Walking Tours Budapest Team on this walk
It is an insightful, fun-filled and informative walk by the Free Walking Tours Budapest Team about history, culture, society, architecture, food, nightlife and what Hungarians are actually like. The tour is focused around the best sights that Buda and Pest have to offer. The goal of this Budapest city walk is to discover and experience our city through the eyes of an insiders, to bring streets, bridges and statues to life, and of course to have fun. Our local tour guides do their best to provide you with compact infotainment all year round. The tour starts on the Pest side and ends on the Buda side of the city, in the Castle district at the Fisherman’s Bastion area and there is a useful final orientation about public transportation, thermal baths, museums, places to go out, places to eat out, and about how to avoid the tourist traps in Budapest. Even though it is a safe city, you should be careful with a couple of minor tricks.
The length of the walk
Budapest by foot is easy to discover, the length of this tour is 2,5-3 hours and it covers about two and a half miles/3.5 kilometers. The tour is not too hard to complete, but please expect a bit of physical activity when walking up on the stairs and slopes of the Castle hill, which takes about 8-10 minutes with convenient pace. Wearing comfortable shoes, warm clothes during wintertime is essential. Bring some water and a hat in the summer, it can be quite hot (25-35 degrees Celsius, sometimes more nowadays). There is a 10-15 minutes long break at about half time and there is a café, a small supermarket and restrooms as well, so you can relax a bit before climbing up to the top of the Castle hill and admiring the gorgeous view of the city.
If you are after a more detailed Budapest city walk…
Please note that this public tour is not suited to fully satisfy history or architecture buffs’ need for information. If you have a decidedly greater depth of interest in Budapest, please book a fully customized private sightseeing walk , where you can make sure to spend time with the guides, and is based only on your areas of interest, needs and pace. Also, join our thematic walks by the Free Walking Tours Budapest Team, since on these tours we go into more details about different parts of Hungarian history and culture.
